Tongues

I touch her skin and she touches mine. The language of her people is strange, at times honey sweet, at times cruel and bitter. I don’t mind. I endeavor to learn it anyway. Even the bitterest syllables are sweeter than the blades and arrows our people exchanged when mine first plied the shores of hers with the sharp-bowed boats and heavy oxen of eager colonists.
