I am as nothing as something can be
By Elise Lianna

I am as nothing as something can be
I am as useless as wind without sea
I am as worthless as rocks that don’t shine
And no value on earth can buy you for mine
I am as empty as promises made
I am as broken as foundations laid
I am as lost as a child led astray
And as the nights age I am fading away
I am a torn shred of paper
And I am the thorn in your side
I am the ashes of love known and lost
And I am the remains that you’ve cast aside
Yes, I am the corpse of what might have been
But I am the bud of things still to come.
For I am as strong as the oak tree
Straining for a taste of the unbroken sky
And now I am free as the songbird
Pushing my limits to soar higher than high
I am as brilliant as a full-moon night
I am the grace of a falcon in flight
I am the kiss of snowflakes on lips
And I’ll press you close to the sway of my hips
I am the ebb and flow of the tide
I am the mystery of a midnight ride
Our paths may diverge from mutual pasts
But time can’t devalue our love, while it lasts
